I AM NOT A PREACHER! My father was a preacher. My late brother was a preacher. From what I understand, Daddy’s grandfather was a preacher. Not me! I have spent 24 years thinking I was – but NOPE! Ain’t gonna happen. I know guys who can preach, not that they should, but they can proclaim. People have tried to make me one, talk me into being one, but in the final analysis, I did not inherit that gene. And by admitting this, I am experiencing true emancipation. Years have been spent listening to the wrong voices, not following the will of my God, but the will of people. Years spent having my steps ordered by these same people. Years spent enslaved to an idea that had me tied and beaten to a spiritual pulp. When I delivered my proclamation to one of these people, he seemed stunned that I was leaving the plantation. “What are you going to do?” he asked. “The heck if I know, but I am cool with that. All I know is that I am as clear in my vision as I have ever been – I’m free!” Freedom means you don’t have to want what you don’t want. Freedom means you are able to clearly hear the voice of your God and know with certainty you are being guided in the proper direction – even if you are not clear about the path.
